Choosing disc golf drivers starts with a throw-specific fork: do you want a distance driver described as understable or easier to turn, or a fairway driver aimed at first-driver and line-shaping use? The answer determines whether Axiom Vanish, Discraft Nuke SS, or Axiom Rhythm deserves attention before price enters the picture. The useful comparison is matching the stated flight role and plastic to the shot you want.
Quick take
Start with role, not the plastic label. If distance-driver flight is the priority, the two Vanish versions share the same stated flight profile, while the Nuke SS is framed around easier turning for lower arm speeds. If fairway work matters more, Rhythm is the fairway-driver entry in this group. After that split, compare Fission, Neutron, and Z plastic alongside the listed prices.
Listed-price comparison
Price creates a $7.00 spread across the four discs, from $14.95 to $21.95. The bars show each listed price position in the comparison, not a performance rating.
| Disc | Listed price | Price bar |
|---|---|---|
| Axiom FISSION VANISH | $21.95 | |
| Axiom NEUTRON VANISH | $16.95 | |
| Axiom FISSION RHYTHM | $21.95 | |
| Discraft Z NUKE SS | $14.95 |
Decision matrix
Use the matrix to narrow the field by throw style and intended role before choosing between the two Vanish plastics.
| Shopper priority | Product | Why it fits | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lower-arm-speed distance use | Discraft Z NUKE SS | Described as easier to turn for lower arm speeds and labeled Best For Long Bombs | Distance-driver format |
| Vanish flight in Fission plastic | Axiom FISSION VANISH | Understable flight description includes straight-to-understable behavior across power and wind conditions | Highest listed price tier |
| Vanish flight in Neutron plastic | Axiom NEUTRON VANISH | Keeps the Vanish mold and flight description with Neutron plastic | Distance-driver format |
| First-driver or line-shaping use | Axiom FISSION RHYTHM | Description names both newer-player and power-arm use cases | Fairway-driver format |
Product notes
Axiom FISSION VANISH
Axiom FISSION VANISH is the distance-driver choice for a thrower who wants an understable flight that can be straight at low power or in tailwinds, then controllably understable at high power or in mild headwinds. The listed flight numbers are speed 11, glide 5, turn -3, and fade 2, while Fission identifies the plastic. Choose it when that Vanish flight description and Fission specification are the pairing you want. The limitation is the $21.95 listed price, tied for the highest here; it also fills the distance-driver slot rather than the fairway-driver role. That makes the mold specific to a distance-focused bag.
Axiom NEUTRON VANISH
Axiom NEUTRON VANISH carries the same Vanish description: an understable distance driver that can fly straight to understable depending on thrower and wind conditions. Its listed ratings are speed 11, glide 5, turn -3, and fade 2. Neutron plastic is the concrete distinction from FISSION VANISH, and the $16.95 listed price is $5 below the Fission version. Pick it when Neutron is the deciding plastic specification and the Vanish flight is what you want. The limitation is that the mold remains a distance driver, so it does not cover the fairway-driver role. It is a focused plastic-and-mold choice rather than a change in the stated Vanish flight.
Axiom FISSION RHYTHM
Axiom FISSION RHYTHM addresses the fairway side of the decision. Its description calls the Rhythm a first driver for newer players and a line-shaping fairway for power arms, and gives speed 7, glide 5.5, turn -2, and fade 1. Fission plastic and the RF 2 color pattern identify the version. Choose Rhythm when that first-driver or line-shaping brief matters more than selecting a distance-driver mold. The limitation is price position: $21.95 ties the highest listed amount, while the fairway-driver designation means it is not the direct pick for someone specifically seeking a distance driver for long-bomb use.
Discraft Z NUKE SS
Discraft Z NUKE SS is the distance-driver route for shoppers who want a straight-flying, understable design described as easier to turn for lower arm speeds. The description also labels it speed 13, glide 5, turn -3, fade 3, with a 160-to-174 weight range and long-bomb use. Z plastic and the Yellow / Light Pink Holo Hearts color pairing distinguish the version. Its clearest price distinction is $14.95, or $7 below the $21.95 high end. The limitation is format: Nuke SS is a distance driver, not a fairway driver for the Rhythm-style use case.
Final recommendation by use case
- For a fairway-driver slot, choose Axiom FISSION RHYTHM because its description specifically names first-driver use for newer players and line shaping for power arms.
- For a Vanish distance driver, choose Axiom FISSION VANISH when Fission plastic is the deciding detail, or Axiom NEUTRON VANISH when Neutron is the deciding detail. Their descriptions present the same flight profile, making plastic and listed price the practical split.
- For the lower-priced distance-driver route and a lower-arm-speed use case, choose Discraft Z NUKE SS. Its description directly connects the mold with easier turning for lower arm speeds and long-bomb use.
