Choosing among dive computers & instruments is less about picking the most feature-packed name and more about matching the instrument to the way you dive. Do you want a Peregrine with a full-colour display, a Teric with multi-gas decompression, or a console that explicitly adds a compass? The four choices span a wide price range, so the right feature match matters as much as the number on the price tag.
Quick take
Start with Shearwater Research Peregrine Adventures Edition Dive Computer for its named Adventures Edition identity and wrist-worn design. Choose Shearwater Research Peregrine Dive Computer for a full-colour screen and clearly named dive modes. The Shearwater Teric Dive Computer Black 55mm fits shoppers focused on multi-gas decompression. The Aqualung i330R 2 Gauge Scuba Dive Computer Plus Compass is the direct choice for a compass included in the product title.
Listed price comparison
| Product | Listed price | Price bar |
|---|---|---|
| Shearwater Research Peregrine Adventures Edition Dive Computer | USD 499.99 | |
| Shearwater Research Peregrine Dive Computer | USD 580.00 | |
| Shearwater Teric Dive Computer Black 55mm | USD 624.99 | |
| Aqualung i330R 2 Gauge Scuba Dive Computer Plus Compass | USD 300.00 |
The absolute spread is $324.99 from the Aqualung i330R to the Shearwater Teric. That makes the Aqualung a distinctly different starting point, while the two Peregrine choices sit between the price endpoints. Use price to narrow the field, then let the named format, display, modes, or compass settle the decision.
Decision matrix
- Display and navigation: The Peregrine Dive Computer is the clearest match for a full-colour 5.59cm LCD and a simple layout. The Adventures Edition is described with a comfortable wrist-worn design.
- Dive modes: The Peregrine lists Air, Nitrox, 3 Gas Nitrox, and Gauge modes. The i330R also lists four modes and three Nitrox mixes, so the number of modes alone does not separate those choices.
- Navigation aid: The i330R title directly includes Plus Compass, making it the straightforward match when an underwater compass is central to the purchase.
- Condition: The two Peregrine choices are marked New, while the Teric and i330R are marked Used. That distinction should be considered alongside price and the features you will actually use.
Product notes
Shearwater Research Peregrine Adventures Edition Dive Computer
At $499.99, the Adventures Edition suits a diver who wants a Peregrine model with a wrist-worn format. Its stated capabilities include decompression calculations and dive profiling, and the title preserves the Adventures Edition identity for shoppers drawn to that naming. The single-unit quantity fits a one-computer purchase. The limitation is its price position: that amount is not the lowest listed price in this comparison. Choose it when the Peregrine model, Adventures Edition wording, and wrist-worn use matter more than selecting the compass-equipped Aqualung.
Shearwater Research Peregrine Dive Computer
The Peregrine Dive Computer is the clearest match for four named modes: Air, Nitrox up to 40% oxygen, 3 Gas Nitrox up to 100% O2, and Gauge. A full-colour 5.59cm LCD and a simple, intuitive layout give it a concrete display-and-navigation rationale. The limitation is its $580 listed price, which places it above the other Peregrine choice and the i330R. If the deciding need is a compass, the i330R title explicitly includes one; if it is a 55mm case, the Teric names that size. Choose the Peregrine for its specific mode list and screen.
Shearwater Teric Dive Computer Black 55mm
For shoppers prioritizing a 55mm case, silicone band, and multi-gas decompression, the Teric has a direct use-case fit. The package names a genuine charger, case, documents, and carabiner, making those included items part of the buying decision. Its limitation is concrete: the condition is Used, the manufacturer warranty is marked No, and its $624.99 listed price is the highest here. Choose Teric when the named case size, band, decompression function, and accessories matter more than new condition or a lower listed price.
Aqualung i330R 2 Gauge Scuba Dive Computer Plus Compass
The i330R is the direct fit for a shopper who wants a dive computer with a compass named in the title. It also brings a bright colour screen, rechargeable battery, Bluetooth connection, four modes, and three Nitrox mixes into the comparison. At $300, it is the lowest-priced choice. Its limitation is condition and cosmetic state: it is Used and described with minor cosmetic signs of use. Pick it when the named compass, console format, and lower listed price are more important than choosing a new Peregrine or the Teric's 55mm case.
Final recommendation by use case
- For a new Peregrine purchase: Choose Shearwater Research Peregrine Adventures Edition Dive Computer.
- For a full-colour display with four explicitly named modes: Choose Shearwater Research Peregrine Dive Computer.
- For a 55mm Teric configuration and named accessory package: Choose Shearwater Teric Dive Computer Black 55mm.
- For a compass and the lowest listed price: Choose Aqualung i330R 2 Gauge Scuba Dive Computer Plus Compass.
The cleanest decision is to match the title-level requirement you care about most: display and modes, a wrist-worn Peregrine, Teric configuration, or the i330R's compass.
