Choosing among dive computers & instruments starts with a format decision: do you want a console, a computer with an included transmitter, or a named computer configuration with wireless connectivity? The four choices span $200 to $899.99, but price is only useful after you match the package to your dive plan. Focus on what is explicitly bundled, the modes or monitoring described, and whether the condition is new or used.
Quick take
The two Shearwater choices are Teric models, but their titles separate a transmitter-and-charger package from a Black 55mm computer. Suunto's Cobra is identified as an air-integrated console with an extra battery, while the D5 foregrounds wireless connectivity. That creates four distinct buying paths rather than a simple price ladder.

Decision matrix
- Included accessory: Choose the transmitter-inclusive Shearwater Teric when the named transmitter and charging station are central to the purchase.
- Teric configuration: Choose the Shearwater Teric Black 55mm when the case size, silicone band, charger, and case define the desired setup.
- Console monitoring: Choose the Suunto Cobra when real-time tank pressure monitoring, Nitrox, and Gauge modes match the intended use.
- New wireless computer: Choose the Suunto D5 when a new, all-black Suunto computer with wireless connectivity is the priority.
Product notes
Shearwater Teric Dive Computer w/ Air Integration Transmitter, Charger
Shearwater Teric Dive Computer w/ Air Integration Transmitter, Charger earns consideration for its listed feature set: a full-color AMOLED display, sapphire crystal, digital compass, Bluetooth, wireless rechargeable battery, and audible plus vibration alerts. Its modes include Air, Nitrox, Trimix, Tech, CCR, and Freediving, and the description gives a 200 m / 660 ft depth rating. The tradeoff is straightforward: at $899.99, it is the highest-priced choice, and the condition is used. This direction makes sense when the listed mode mix and charging accessories matter more than keeping the purchase close to the $200 Cobra.
Shearwater Teric Dive Computer Black 55mm
Shearwater Teric Dive Computer Black 55mm suits a shopper who wants the Teric name with a defined 55mm case and silicone band. The included-items description names the computer, multi-gas decompression, genuine charger, Shearwater case, and documents, while Android is listed as a compatible operating system. Those details distinguish this configuration from the transmitter-inclusive Teric. Its concrete limitation is the used condition and the package scope described by the included items. At $624.99, it sits $275 below the transmitter package and $424.99 above the Cobra, making configuration and price the key tradeoff.
Suunto Cobra Dive Computer Air Integrated Console RGBM Nitrox with Extra Battery
Suunto Cobra Dive Computer Air Integrated Console RGBM Nitrox with Extra Battery makes sense when tank pressure monitoring and console format are the priority. The description names real-time tank pressure monitoring, RGBM decompression, Air, Nitrox from 21% to 50%, and Gauge modes, plus a bright electroluminescent backlight, audible alarms, an extra battery, and a 150 m / 492 ft depth rating. It is the new choice at the lowest listed price, $200. Its limitation is the specific mode set described: Air, Nitrox, and Gauge are named, while the Teric description names additional Trimix, Tech, CCR, and Freediving modes.
Suunto D5 All Black Dive Computer w/ Wireless Connectivity
Suunto D5 All Black Dive Computer w/ Wireless Connectivity SS050192000 is a fit for a shopper seeking a new Suunto D5 with wireless connectivity and an all-black presentation. Its description focuses on tracking underwater movements and key metrics, and the title provides the specific model number SS050192000. At $330, it is $130 above the Cobra and $294.99 below the Teric Black 55mm. The limitation is that the named configuration emphasizes wireless connectivity rather than the Cobra's console-based tank-pressure monitoring or the other Teric's explicitly included transmitter. Choose D5 when its new condition, model, and wireless feature lead the decision.
Final recommendation by use case
- For an air-integrated console: Choose the Suunto Cobra, whose title and description directly identify console use, Nitrox, and an extra battery.
- For a transmitter-inclusive Teric package: Choose the $899.99 Shearwater Teric with Air Integration Transmitter, Charger.
- For the 55mm Teric configuration: Choose the Shearwater Teric Black 55mm with its silicone band, charger, and case.
- For a new wireless Suunto computer: Choose the Suunto D5 All Black model.
The $699.99 spread between the Cobra and the transmitter-inclusive Teric makes package scope the central decision. Compare the named configuration first, then use the listed price and condition to narrow the choice.
