Choosing riding helmets, boots & apparel can get stuck on two competing priorities: a particular brim and finish on one hand, and size, condition, and price on the other. These four choices are all riding helmets, so the quickest route is to compare the three Suomy Apex variants together, then weigh the Samshield's English styling and used condition separately. The price table shows the spread, while the product notes turn the differences into practical use-case picks without treating a higher number as proof of better performance.
Quick take
- The three Suomy Apex helmets form the closest comparison because they share the Apex model family and a new condition.
- Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Black Rose Gold Matte is the small-brim entry.
- The blue/rose gold and brown Suomy Apex versions are the large-brim entries.
- Samshield Shadowmatt is the distinct English-style choice, with a chin strap, black color, and used condition.

Decision matrix
If brim style is the first filter: begin with the small-brim Apex entry or compare the two large-brim versions. This keeps style selection separate from color and finish.
If size is the first filter: the Suomy choices are listed at 56 or 57 cm, while the Samshield uses a 58L 7 1/4 designation. Treat those as the product's stated size formats rather than assuming one will fit better.
If appearance drives the choice: use the black rose-gold, blue rose-gold, brown, or black wording to separate the options after the functional filters are settled.
If condition matters: the three Suomy helmets are new, while the Samshield is used. That is a meaningful distinction before price becomes the tiebreaker.
Product notes
Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Black Rose Gold Matte Horse Riding Helmet
Suomy's Chrome Black Rose Gold Matte Apex is the direct choice for a shopper seeking the Apex family with a small brim and a 57 cm size. Its feature list includes a thermoplastic resin composite shell, removable washable inner padding, antibacterial fabrics, and a 520-gram listed weight. ASTM F 1163-15 is also named. The limitation is the USD 479.20 listed price, which places it well above the Samshield option, and the small-brim format will not suit a brief centered on a large brim. Choose this version when the black-and-rose-gold title phrase, 57 cm sizing, and small-brim style line up with your priorities.
Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Blue/Rose Gold Matte Horse Riding Helmet
The Chrome Blue/Rose Gold Matte Apex matches a shopping brief built around a large brim and a 57 cm size. Its blue-and-rose-gold wording gives it a distinct visual direction, while the Apex description includes aerodynamic ventilation and a 520-gram listed weight. The limitation is its USD 508.00 listed price, tied with the brown large-brim Apex, so the deciding factor is more likely to be the finish phrase or size preference than price. This is a new helmet, and the title's large-brim format makes it the Suomy entry to focus on when that silhouette matters most.
Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Brown Matte Horse Riding Helmet
Chrome Brown Matte gives this Apex helmet a brown finish, paired with a large-brim style and a 56 cm size. Those details distinguish it from the 57 cm Suomy entries without requiring a judgment about which numerical size is superior. ASTM F 1163-15, VG1 01, and PAS 015 2011 appear with the product, and its stated features include ventilation and removable inner padding. The limitation is the USD 508.00 listed price, shared with the blue-and-rose-gold Apex. Choose it when the brown appearance, large brim, and 56 cm designation are the combination you want.
Samshield Shadowmatt Black English Riding Helmet w/ Chin Strap Size 58L 7 1/4
Samshield Shadowmatt brings a different brief: black English styling, a chin strap, and the 58L 7 1/4 size wording in the title. Its USD 199.95 listed price is the lowest of the four, making it the first option to examine when the price boundary is strict. The limitation is its used condition, which sets it apart from the three new Suomy entries and makes condition an important part of the decision. The Shadowmatt model is named directly. Choose this helmet when the black English format, chin strap, and stated size notation matter more than matching the Apex family.
Final recommendation by use case
- Small-brim Apex use case: Choose the Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Black Rose Gold Matte Horse Riding Helmet for its small-brim style and 57 cm listing.
- Large-brim, 57 cm use case: Choose the Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Blue/Rose Gold Matte Horse Riding Helmet.
- Large-brim, 56 cm use case: Choose the Suomy Apex Riding Helmet - Chrome Brown Matte Horse Riding Helmet.
- English style with a chin strap: Choose the Samshield Shadowmatt Black English Riding Helmet w/ Chin Strap Size 58L 7 1/4, provided its used condition fits your priorities.
The simplest decision is to settle the style and size requirement first, then use the price table to separate the Suomy choices from Samshield. The three Apex helmets are closely related, while the Samshield offers a different model and riding-style identity.
